Communicable Disease


The Enforcement Surveillance and Preparedness division is responsible for tracking, investigating, testing and treating communicable disease in Black Hawk County. The Communicable Disease Program provides STD testing at six outreach sites, handle referrals from local doctors and clinics, and provide follow up and treatment for all patients.

Black Hawk County has the highest number of STIs of any county in Iowa. We are 1.5 times the national average and 2.5 times greater than the state average for STIs. Click here for more information.

Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinic

Four licensed nurses (RNs) operate a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) clinic on the 5th Floor of the Pinecrest Building. During 2011 the STD clinic had 2,435 clinic encounters.

Walk-in Clinic Hours: Monday 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Thursday 9:00am – 4:45pm

*Services free of charge for those who qualify. For individuals that do not qualify, a $20 fee applies.
